ABOUT THE PROJECT
The POM Wonderful brand has enjoyed one of the most iconic pieces of packaging in the last decade. With its unmistakeable shape it has always been a unique and visually interesting part of the brand. This however, has not been true of the brand's digital presence; this is why we set out to design a new .com that would revive the iconic brand with a more modern look and a more usable website.
THE EXPERIENCE
THe DESIGn
As part of our new design language, we wanted to bring motion and energy that matched the feeling of the TV commercials: confident, sharp, clean, edgy and modern.
The homepage always features the bottle as the hero of each module. The modules serve as a quick entry point into all the available information about the juice, pomegranates and the legend and science that surrounds it.
The TECHNOLOGY
The site is built on REACT and it features WebGL transitions and canvas. The various sections have the angled masks which animate and change as the user scrolls as well as a parallax effect. We also make use of HTML video and audio across multiple sections.
Built as a single page app, we were able to guarantee smooth transitions as well as background loading for assets and sections. We use JSON to build all the sections as we needed the whole site to be able to be integrated into AEM.
CONTENT STRATEGY
Understanding our target and their particular interests, drove a lot of the UX, especially as the site is also the first time the brand will sell the product online. We had to be able to weave the content centric brand site with a functional shopping experience.
HISTORY
One of the most interesting sections of the site featured the mention of pomegranates in history, art and legend. We set out to tell a story that spanned across time periods and covered the four corners of the world. This sections featured a museum like experience where you could listen to fully voiced stories and records of 68 unique entries.
